The most important feature of any media player is the possibility of playing music right away, without any complex functions getting in your way. Unfortunately, certain players make the playlist a secondary feature, but this is not the case with AtomicPlayer. Instead of hindering you with complex options, it allows you to play your music immediately. It includes everything you would expect from a modern day media player, including various filtering options, online radio support and more.

The software is free, but if you wish to benefit from advanced capabilities, you must pay for a registered version. AtomicPlayer is designed specifically for recent Windows audio technology, so it works only on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The media library is displayed in the largest area of the interface and it is the primary view mode. You can switch to similar view modes, but for online radio feeds and podcasts. A series of filtering options can be found above the files list and you can use them to display tracks from specific artists, albums, genres, years, groups or playlists.

When you import audio files, AtomicPlayer uses their tag information to sort them automatically. Additionally, it will send the files to various playlists, depending on the same tag information, on how and when you play them or how you rate your songs. You can also create and define your own automatic playlists.

AtomicPlayer allows you to edit tag information for individual files. The appropriate input fields will appear beneath the playlist when you start editing and you can switch between different sets of information, with Back and Next buttons. Although it comes with many features, the software will not hinder you in any way. Most functions work in the background, to make your experience more comfortable. For example, while the application is playing a song, everything on your computer will be muted automatically.

Pros

AtomicPlayer is simple and straightforward. The media library is displayed at all times and you can filter your songs, using numerous criteria. The software comes with advanced functions as well and they will not hinder you in any way.

Cons

You have to select an audio output device before playing your music. It is not a serious drawback, but you may spend some time wondering why you can't hear your music playing. A user friendly interface, with a modern design and a high quality playback is what you can expect from AtomicPlayer.
